Database Stages of Development

Database Analysis

This Analysis Stage involves consultation with a client and the end users of the database to determine system and database requirements. This stage is critical to the outcomes. A clear list of database output requirements for immediate and future uses makes the initial design and later upgrades much easier.

Database Design and Implementation

The Design Stage clarifies the information output needs which determine the database structure. Reports are designed. Tables and fields are selected and named. Windows for data entry and edit are designed.

The database is installed and beta-tested. After revision and further testing, data can be entered either by import from a previous database / spreadsheet or keyed in item by item.

During construction the database is documented to enable fast identification of sections required for future modifications.

Training and Manual Production

A user's manual is developed as the database is constructed using screendump graphics and step-by-step instructions.

In situ training in the use of the database can be provided for your Staff.

Telephone and On-site backup can be provided.
